New Elders’ Quorum President

On Sunday, September 18, Jane and I went to the Francistown Branch Conference. At 8:00 a.m. I had an interview with Brother Lowani to interview him to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood and be ordained an Elder. Brother Lowani had been a member since May. Following his interview to be ordained an Elder, I interviewed him to be the Elders’ Quorum President. After Sacrament Meeting, he was ordained an Elder and I set him apart as Elders’ Quorum President. Only later that day did I learn from the Branch President that Brother Lowani hitchhiked for three hours to cover the 100 kilometers (60 miles) from his home to Church. He had arisen at 4:30 a.m. so he would be on time for the interview. He would have to hitchhike home as well.
